This is how you build a perfect breathing routine with Comformidable

Good breathing isn't something you do now and then, but all day long. Yet most people only pay attention to it when something goes wrong: a blocked nose, snoring or waking up tired. With a fixed breathing routine you tackle it structurally. In this article you'll build one step by step, from the moment you get up to the moment you go to sleep.

Step 1: start the day with a clean nose

Your nose filters, warms and humidifies every breath. That only works well when the nasal passages are clean. So rinse your nose in the morning with a nasal douche and nasal rinsing salt. The ratio is simple: one 2.7 gram sachet to about 300 ml of lukewarm water. This flushes away mucus, dust and pollen with a salt solution that matches your body's natural salt concentration.

Step 2: breathe consciously through your nose during the day

Check yourself a few times a day: am I breathing through my nose or through my mouth? Nasal breathing is the standard your body expects. If you notice your nose is blocked at moments when you want to keep working or relax, a menthol inhaler gives a fresh feeling in a matter of seconds. Small enough for your pocket, and you use it whenever you want.

Step 3: give your nose space while exercising

During exercise you want to breathe through your nose as freely as possible. Nasal strips lift your nostrils mechanically, without medication. Many runners and cyclists wear them for exactly that reason. Apply the strip to a clean, dry nose bridge and you'll notice the difference straight away.

Step 4: make the night your strongest breathing moment

You spend a third of your life sleeping, and that's exactly when things often go wrong: the mouth falls open, the palate starts vibrating and the snoring begins. Two aids complement each other here. Nasal strips keep the nose open, and mouth tape gently keeps your mouth closed so you automatically keep breathing through your nose. Only use mouth tape if you can breathe freely through your nose.

If you find it hard to fall asleep, the sleep patches with melatonin, magnesium and lavender oil can be the final piece of the puzzle. Apply the patch to clean, dry skin half an hour before bedtime.

The routine in short

  • Morning: rinse your nose with the nasal douche and rinsing salt
  • Daytime: breathe consciously through your nose, with the inhaler as a refresher
  • Sport: nasal strips so you can breathe freely through your nose
  • Night: nasal strips plus mouth tape, optionally supplemented with sleep patches

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get used to a breathing routine?

Allow two to three weeks for conscious nasal breathing to become a habit. The aids work from day one, the habit follows naturally.

Are the Comformidable nasal products medical devices?

Yes. The nasal strips, mouth tape, nasal douche and rinsing salt are class I medical devices under the European MDR regulation 2017/745, registered in EUDAMED. The nasal strips are also dermatologically tested by Dermatest.

Can I introduce all the steps at once?

You can, but you don't have to. Start with the step that solves your biggest problem, for example the night if you snore, and add the rest at your own pace.
